The English for Academic Purpose (EAP) Center at the Lafayette College aims to equip English learners with the reading, writing, and oral communication skills and the knowledge of US culture necessary to succeed in an English-speaking college setting.

If your native language is not English, we strongly recommend you attend the English Language Learning workshops and register for the ENG 100 Academic Writing class [W] provided by the EAP Center during your first academic year. The EAP Center is located on the 3rd floor of Scott Hall. To learn more about the support that is provided by the EAP Center, please visit the website  or contact Advising Office at deanofadvising@lafayette.edu.

EAP English Placement Test

The EAP English Placement Test is designed for first year international students who are required by the college to submit TOEFL or IELTS results and is used to determine whether students need extra EAP support to have a successful career at Lafayette College.

Test Information

The EAP English Placement Test is sponsored by the EAP Center and is given during International Student Orientation Week*. Remember to bring a picture ID (e.g., your passport) on the actual day of testing. Because the EAP English Placement Test is a placement test used to accurately determine English language skill level, students do not need to “prepare” for it.

Results

Results of the placement test will be available from the EAP center or your academic advisor within a month (late August) of taking the test.
